In 2004, the S.P.A. Hall of Fame added a new category for the Pioneers of Senior Softball. Pioneers must be a minimum of 65 years and older and must have played a minimum 8 years in S.P.A. They include Players, Managers, Umpires, and Special Categories (such as Sponsors, Directors, etc.).
All candidates are required to be nominated, and to submit biographical booklets and supporting documents of their Senior Softball careers. The Hall of Fame Credentials Committee reviews the nominations and submits qualified candidates to the Voting Board. This process has broadened the field of nominees, while also attending a heightened degree of prestige to the inductees.
Players receive the following points from play in the S.P.A. National Tournaments:

Major Plus & Major Divisions All-American Team 1 Point
AAA All Tournament Team ½ Point
